Richie WoodhallGUEST
12:56
You've gotta give him immense credit for the, for the way he, he came back in that fight.
Steve BunceHOST
13:01
In the Outstanding Fight of the Year, not even to say contender, 'cause it's Fight of the Year, in that-
Richie WoodhallGUEST
13:05
Definitely
Steve BunceHOST
13:06
...
Steve BunceHOST
13:06
in that outstanding Fight of the Year at the Co-op Live back in May, Fabio Wardley was never down, but he was hurt.
Steve BunceHOST
13:13
Stumbling or wobbled, you can choose whatever word you like, Fabio might dispute it.
Richie WoodhallGUEST
13:17
Yeah.
T.J. RivesHOST
1:49
Brandon Figueroa, who you heard recently on this pod, defending his featherweight title.
T.J. RivesHOST
1:54
And we got Dubois-Wardley, the rematch of what is arguably the fight of the year to this point to go over, plus Oshaki Foster joining us on this pod before his junior lightweight unification battle with Emmanuel Navarrete, not this weekend, but next weekend, October 24th.
T.J. RivesHOST
2:11
Jam packed pod.
T.J. RivesHOST
2:12
I am the somewhat competent host, TJ Reeves.
Dan RafaelHOST
5:58
Dubois, you know, d- He doesn't really do that either, uh, maybe unless the other guy starts with him.
Dan RafaelHOST
6:03
So from that perspective, it hasn't been, like, much fireworks.
Dan RafaelHOST
6:07
Uh, but this is the kind of fight like we were talking about, Fight of the Year contender.
Dan RafaelHOST
6:10
You don't need to have them shoot their mouths off.
Teddy Atlas IIIHOST
27:27
It was one of the best fights I've watched in quite some time, especially for the heavyweights.
Teddy Atlas IIIHOST
27:30
I think it was fight of the year.
Teddy Atlas IIIHOST
27:32
The heart by both of these men, tremendous.
Teddy Atlas IIIHOST
27:35
Chins, too.
Rob TebbuttHOST
15:23
[laughs] Andy, we're gonna come to you for the rematch, the fight that we've all came together to discuss today.
Rob TebbuttHOST
15:31
Daniel Dubois versus Fabio Wardley 2 on the back of their fight of the year contender earlier on this year.
Rob TebbuttHOST
15:39
Excitement level for you, where are we at?
Andy ClarkeHOST
15:41
High.

13 MINS LATER

Fabio WardleySOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
28:14
I had no real heavy injury.
Fabio WardleySOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
28:16
It's just, look, you add a bit of, of blood and a bit of sweat, and everything looks 10 times more dramatic than it would do anyway.
Rob TebbuttHOST
28:23
Invariably, when you're in a Fight of the Year, you know, people are always wanting to see the second fight.
Rob TebbuttHOST
28:27
But a lot of people weren't sure whether we, whether we would, whether Daniel would kind of go off, and you would have a bit of time to, to rest and recover.
Brandon FigueroaGUEST
12:49
Um, I really don't know, but obv- obviously I would like to fight Espinoza.
Brandon FigueroaGUEST
12:52
You know, the, he's a Mexican champion, and I feel like fighting him would be for sure Fight of the Year candidate.
Brandon FigueroaGUEST
12:58
Um, there's also Angelo Leo.
Dan RafaelHOST
12:59
[laughs] That's a good fight.
Billy DibGUEST
1:01
He dug so deep, mate.
Billy DibGUEST
1:02
That was truly a fight that deserves to be in the list of Fight of the Year.
Billy DibGUEST
1:09
No doubt about it.
Billy DibGUEST
1:10
He definitely put on a spectacle.
SeanHOST
10:58
Ultimately, the KO came in the 15th round, the final round, but it was a brilliant fight throughout.
SeanHOST
11:03
The fight was actually named Ring Magazine Fight of the Year.
SeanHOST
11:06
So whilst we might be saying it's a forgotten fight, it's only forgotten in the sense that how many years on now? We're at 30-odd years later.
SeanHOST
11:17
People do forget about this fight because of the fact that it's so long ago now.
SeanHOST
11:56
Absolutely fantastic fight.
JohnstonHOST
11:57
I mean, there's even Mike Ayala, I remember reading that he was actually...
JohnstonHOST
12:01
I believe he was on crack at the time and I think he even took some crack before going into this fight believe it or not and you wouldn't think it for one minute maybe if he hadn't have done that he probably wouldn't have been stopped in 15 rounds but Danny Lopez and we've explained that in the Sanchez career profile again where how much of a he was that little giant really in the television era in the 70s and going into the 80s and Lopez was a huge name and this was a great great fight fight of the year obviously for for uh 79 but overshadowed it really does and The story and behind that, there's a lot in there where, again, you know, maybe we could bring to light some of these in legendary nights.
JohnstonHOST
12:40
But I'll jump on to the next one.
Frank WarrenGUEST
2:22
Fabulous fights.
Frank WarrenGUEST
2:24
You know, quite a few of them have been nominated for Fight of the Year, the main event.
Frank WarrenGUEST
2:27
So, yeah, it's
Kugan CassiusHOST
2:29
good times.

Steve KimHOST
25:34
Was in the Fight of the Year.
Steve KimHOST
25:36
Had rivalries.
