The Princess Bride

And we all three of us were quoting the entire movie the entire time we're watching it.

So Scott, let's talk about The Princess Bride.

Directed by Rob Reiner, screenplay by William Goldman, based on his novel, released September 25th, 1987.

A modest success upon its release, Rob Reiner's film has gone on to have a beloved reputation and is regarded as one of the very best films to come out of the 1980s.

And so he's reading this quote-unquote fictional book in the movie to this kid, right? But it is actually a novel that you can go and pick up at a bookstore today.

And I have a little bit of information on the novel, which I think is kind of interesting.

The book... as originally titled, was The Princess Bride, colon, S. Morgan Stern's classic tale of true love and high adventure, The Good Parts Version.

I thought that was interesting when I saw that on Wikipedia.

A big rodent with fuzz with a fuzz of molded gray fur and two wicked looking gnawing teeth protruding over its lower lip.

All I can think about is Princess Bride and the rodents of unusual size.

Oh.

I know they're not big like those.

It'll make you cry.

The Princess Bride.

I think this is another one that a lot of people don't know is an adaptation.

And the book is so good.

It's like, you know, like that's one of those ones that's like for me, like watching The Princess Bride or, you know, because like I know every line of The Princess Bride, you know.

That's why I love, I think that's why I love Lower Deck so much because it's short, but I know like, you know, most of those, I know all the lines already, you know, because they're like, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, you know, I love that.

It's just so good, so good.

We went to go see Princess Bride the other night.

It was playing near me.

And at one point, Inigo gets a knife thrown into his stomach at the end of the movie.

It's set in the 1980s, but it's really a picture of the 80s run through this manufactured lens.

And there were fantasy worlds created like Labyrinth, The NeverEnding Story, or The Princess Bride.

And even film noir got the 80s treatment in Dick Tracy.

It's a detective movie, but it fully looks like the comic book.
