But I'll tell you what a guilty pleasure of mine is, guys.
Brad GilmoreGUEST
I love The Phantom from 1996.
Brad GilmoreGUEST
Treat Williams, Billy Zane, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Brad GilmoreGUEST
I'd just like to hang out on that set and watch Simon Windsor, the director, on that, or be around for any of the Beverly Hills Cop films.
Dan McIntyreHOST
Amazing.
Dan McIntyreHOST
Last year, we defended The Phantom on this podcast.
Dan McIntyreHOST
And I was surprised to read Billy Zane's account of his experience in the book.
Dan McIntyreHOST
I just thought that was awesome.
Dan McIntyreHOST
Can you talk to us about Billy Zane's, his involvement and his reaction to the recasting of Marty? Because I thought that was really, really insightful.
Dan McIntyreHOST
So I will say this, the Phantom, is
Brad GilmoreGUEST
one of my favorite movies of all time.
Brad GilmoreGUEST
I love The Phantom.

Scott WeinbergHOST
Although I
Matthew SimpsonGUEST

Matthew SimpsonGUEST
It has
Scott WeinbergHOST
its charms.
JazzHOST
Jason, do you have a Link of Thrones for Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight?
JasonHOST
So a year later, Billy Zane was in a little movie, a hero movie called The Phantom.
JasonHOST
I really enjoyed that movie.
JasonHOST
I remember seeing it in, in theaters.
JasonHOST
It's like the first Black Lanterns.
JasonHOST
[laughs]
JazzHOST
I, I hit up one of my group chats, and I was like, "Have y'all seen The Phantom?" And they said, "No." And I was just like, "Wow, you have got to see The Phantom with Billy Zane."
JasonHOST
Wait, what the fuck? I gotta rewatch that.
Reneé Hunter VasquezHOST
I... [laughs]
John Paul VasquezHOST
Bill Smitrovich, he was in Manhunter in '86, The Phantom in '96, Independence Day in '96 as well, and Air Force One in '97.
Reneé Hunter VasquezHOST
He is a character in this.
Travis Hunter-SayapinHOST
Yeah.
Andre JosephHOST
Yeah.
Andre JosephHOST
So yeah, that's Twister in a nutshell, so, uh, let's jump into The Phantom.

George RogersHOST
He was a o- he, a- at one point he was attached to Jurassic Park before it went to Spielberg.
George RogersHOST
Like, The Phantom.
George RogersHOST
This guy, like, if he would've just done some of those, he prob- but he did, like, a handful.
George RogersHOST
He did what he, he wanted to and he thought was good.
David DenoyerHOST
And I mean, don't get me wrong, I, I, as somebody who just saw The Shadow, I say just, it was within the last four or five years.
David DenoyerHOST
Uh, I grew up with The Phantom.
David DenoyerHOST
Like The Phantom was the one of these...
David DenoyerHOST
Phantom and Rocketeer were the two that I kind of latched onto early in my days I would say.
David DenoyerHOST
Um, but yeah I just saw The Shadow with Alec Baldwin not even like four or five years ago for the first time.
21 MINS LATER
David DenoyerHOST
Yeah.
Adam DonaldsonGUEST
Right.
David DenoyerHOST
I mean, Phantom, Phantom, as much as I love The Phantom, that movie's a tonal fucking, it is just all over the place.
