The Outlast Trials

And man, oh man, I freaking love this one so much.

This is The Outlast Trials.

It's a terrifying first-person horror experience set during the Cold War where players become unwilling test subjects in a sinister corporation's brainwashing experiment.

You have to survive disturbing challenges, evade murderous enemies, and attempt to escape either alone or cooperatively with friends from the underground lab.

So for people who know, and we're going to play a lot of this on stream, but it's a good little preview.

Outlast Trials was what we played.

I think the beginning where you were solo and you got to get through the little, you know, intro to the game.

It was a bit of a process.

Like, Outlast Trials is, like, another, a good example of that, where it's just about-

I never got big into Outlast Trials, but I never really had anyone to play with.

No one seemed to, like, latch on, um, at least in my social circle with that.

So, [laughs] so today we're gonna be going in depth about a game that I've talked about a lot on the show, which is The Outlast Trials.

Yeah, basically.

So, first of all, we're just gonna get right into it.

What is Outlast? Because The Outlast Trials is a spinoff game of the game Outlast.

So I'll do a really quick overview of that game before we talk about the trials, okay? So Outlast is a-

There's, um, whoever did The Outlast Trials.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, there was a game, God, I, I don't even remember the name of it, but it's the f...

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

You've got, like, Red Barrels did The Outlast Trials.

Tarsier's studio did Little Nightmares.

You know, like once again, being great with playing with sound, playing with tension building, playing with light, you know, just and the full immersion that happens in these wonderful games.

And then the same concepts are in a lot of our favorite titles, whether it's the Outlast Trials or is Silent Hill or is this or is that like these things are these are our games that master the art.

of you know pulling you completely in it could be sun is out morning time but you can buy while you play in the game you almost feel like you're in a dark you almost feel like you're in the middle of this tension filled thing uh and as much as uh you know i want to i didn't i don't want to go too far down the rabbit hole but the whole point of horror alt in my opinion from my perspective I feel like horror has always been the art of telling you tales so that you will learn how not to make the same mistakes.

You know, hey, this is we're going to tell you this story.

I would say for me, my limited experience was pretty much last year with Fame on the Scare-a-thon.

That was probably the only time that I really allowed myself to sit long periods of time looking at this craziness.

The Outlast Trials is insane, in my opinion.

I know Fame is not really that scared of it, but to me, I'm like, some sick person made this.

Super scary.

Well, don't worry, Erin, when I make you play The Outlast Trials, we're gonna play at the fun park.
