And finally, in Japan, Kyushu Railway Company is launching a two-month trial of face recognition ticket gates at Hakata Station in Fukuoka starting in November.

Using facial recognition tech from NEC retrofitted onto Nippon Signal gate lanes, the pilot will test transit speeds and accuracy with railway staff ahead of planned commercial rollout at the new JR Keizuka station next spring.
