The Nightmare

I mean, that should be their slogan.

It reminds me of the famous painting with the little ghoul like this on the edge of the bed with the woman.

Yes.

Yes, that's called The Nightmare, I think.

See, look at that.

They were coming through as incubi, succubi.

You've seen all Henry Fuseli's painting, The Nightmare.

It was like that.

And they appeared in my sleep, and that's probably why for me, it involved Neptune South Node Moon conjunct.

It sits on their chest and it, like, attempts to suffocate them.

So then a little later during the Enlightenment, a man named Henry Fuseli, who was a Swiss English painter, he created a piece called The Nightmare.

Oh, it's spooky.

And this painting shows something super similar to, like, what all of these people for years have reported seeing, an impish creature perched on the chest of a sleeping woman.

In 1781, the painter Henry Fuseli unveiled a famous canvas called The Nightmare.

As a matter of scientific imagination, many who study this history feel the painting captures the sensation of sleep paralysis almost exactly.

The reclined body, the weight upon the chest, the sense of a watching presence.

That reading is an interpretation.

And so, gently, are the experiences it produces in the night.

By 1781, the experience had even reached the walls of art.
