The television show is American Hostage, which is Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers, who did The Night Agent, and Shawn Ryan did The Shield.

It's their effort at creating a, um, like a Ryan Murphy anthology-style, like-

Oh, th- there could be a different American Hostage every week.

Yes.

If we look at the night agent based on Matthew Crick's novel, we get Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso.

Now, he's technically an FBI agent, but he is not out in the field kicking down doors or profiling serial killers.

Not at all.

Start with the television series if the pleasure of the story is architecture over time.

Shows like Dept.

Q or The Night Agent have the luxury of using episodes the exact way a book uses chapters.

They build intricate side doors, red herrings, and delayed detonations that you can live with and obsess over for weeks rather than rushing through a two-hour movie.

um yeah like i i've been watching like uh i'll watch some netflix and stuff on on the road just kind of depends on the time of year what's what's out like i watched a full season of the night agent last year kind of later in the year i was crushing i was kind of crushing ted lasso okay um the first few seasons before the the most recent one came out so it kind of depends and yeah just uh sometimes some of those the untold documentaries or sport documentaries of some kind so

i need to get into the new ted lasso have you seen it yet it's fantastic

yeah four episodes in it's fantastic

Yeah, or that a song is good, or that who's this band, or that, "But I'm gonna go and see Barbie and Oppenheimer".

I'm not s- it's very hard, you know, or the new season of The Night, The Night Agent is amazing.

He, the guy who wrote it looked into lots of these things and concluded that almost all of these things contained a very significant amount of synthesized, um, oh, wow.

So, Totman is an amazing cinematographer and director.

He's worked on The Night Agent.

He's worked on Wu-Tang, American Saga, Doctor, and The Following and Damages, which he's extremely proud of.

I think he directed a bunch of Damages, didn't he? Yeah.
