The Mirabeau Bridge

We have some native French speakers.

So for reasons I don't want to spoil, there's a French poem by Guillaume Apollinaire called Le Pont Mirabeau about this bridge, it literally translates to the Mirabeau Bridge, this bridge in Paris that, um, plays a small but significant role in the book.

Not really in Beck's life per se, but in the life of somebody whose life becomes entwined with Beck's.

This person has kind of a cosmic experience on the Mirabeau Bridge, and then runs to a bookstore and reads the poem, which they were already familiar with.

It also turns out this is a poem that like every French school child learns.

So like I thought, I was like, "Oh wow, there's this cool obscure French poem." He's like, "Oh yeah, we all know that one." Like it's, it's already been adapted to music before, but I think never better than the way Arrowina con- committed it to music.

So without further ado, this is Le Pont Mirabeau.

[laughs] Shit, shit, shit.
