The Midnight Meat Train

And we've been kind of going back and forth here in our past couple episodes between newer and older Clive Barker films.

Ones that Clive's directed, ones that he's only been tangentially related to, as we did last week, The Midnight Meat Train.

He wrote it, but not really involved in the movie production at all, besides a tenuous producer credit.

And before that, we did Lord of Illusions, which he wrote and directed.

They call them the Nightbreed, basically.

But in the scheme of things, they are monsters that live in the underground.

Sort of very reminiscent of, you know, like we talked about before with Chuds or the Midnight Meat Train of a race that lives underground.

Clyde Barker really likes that theme of things that live underground.

Um, I finished one movie that I forgot I started more than a week earlier.

Um, which is The Midnight Meat Train.

So I watched the meat train, uh, also for a story written by Clive Barker with a name like midnight meat train, shockingly, uh, No homoeroticism at all, which I was also kind of disappointed by.

I thought maybe that I was signing on for something more.

Uh, let's see.

Did they make a Midnight Meat Train porno? Because that's like a pun in and of itself that they should have just, they didn't even really need to rename the porno.

They could have just called it Midnight Meat Train and it would have worked.

Mahogany is a local butcher who loves to hang out with his buddies, and they like to have a good time on the midnight meat train.

No, but the Weckersurf, the childlike enjoyment that Richard would be getting from playing this and the way he talks about it, just, I love the face acting of Timothy Amundsen.

And it's just, it's just someone p- uh, piecing together a bunch of stuff that he thinks looks cool on screen and calling it a movie.

He's like, "Oh, this'll look really cool." But it's like, uh, way back when there was, there, there was, uh, Midnight Meat Train.

But on Saturday, it opens with Labyrinth.

That one is from the director of Midnight Meat Train, which is apparently not too bad.
