And when he gives you notes on a script, you should implement them, otherwise he's pissed off that he took the time to give you the notes, and then read it, and didn't see any of his notes, and blah, blah, blah.

So at a certain point about 10, 12 years ago in the middle of The Man Show, Ivan Reitman got hold of me and Jimmy and said, "We, we should do a, a movie with you two."

Mm-hmm.

"Like, like, I don't know, like a, a road movie with the two of you, like Crosby and Hope, and whatever." And, and we said, "Okay." So he said, "Go come up with some ideas and come back, and s- see what you think." And I s- I said, "Okay." And Jimmy and I thought about it, and then we thought, "You know what'd be funny? It'd be funny if, Jimmy, you were like a 33-year-old virgin." [laughs]

Most artists can't sell records anymore.

No, I've, I've had that, like when I used to do The Man Show, you'd have that thing where it'd be like, "Yeah, no, Pauly Shore, we're really interested in having you do a reoccurring fea- uh, uh, it's, it, well, tenant, working title Douchebag of the Week.

Y- I think we go back to when you had the Man Show.

Yeah.

When we were men.

The, the initial idea is in such bad taste, but as this docuseries points out, and if you remember, we were living in a different time in the, uh, the early aughts.

We were in the land of Girls Gone Wild, The Man Show, uh, Joe Francis.

I mean, we were just in a different world.

I mean, it is still, um, a really insane idea and, and that's why this project never initial- never got released.

Adam Carolla talks about this all the time.

I mean, the host of Loveline, Crank Yankers, The Man Show, The Adam Carolla Podcast, basically starting podcasts.

He

explains, he's like, if you're in the studio and you do something and then you hold it up, you're like, well, what's your answer to that? And Adam will stop and go, hold on, hold on.

I mean, I'm sure he says, uh, say hi to Jimmy, but it's car talks.

It's car." "He doesn't ask about the family or the kids or anything like that, or anybody in your life?" "No, we just, we talk about cars." He then starts veering, changing topics into this very pretty girl named Erin, who worked for us and now works for Jimmy, who had a crush on me back in the day when we worked on The Man Show.

And he just sort of seamlessly steers it over.

"Erin, Adam, remember those days? You had a good, got a crush on him." And she's cute, and I liked her, too, but I was with somebody, and it just, uh, you know, didn't work out.

But it's like I'm controlling your feelings.

I'm sort of making you feel...

It's the same guy, by the way, when we'd be working on The Man Show, and it'd be 7:00 at night, and I was doing Loveline at 10:00 at night, and I'd just get up from my desk and I'd go, "All right.

I'm gonna go home, eat dinner, take a nap, skip my rope, and then I'm gonna go do Loveline." As I was getting up, he'd go, "Buddy, we're all eating at our desks." And I go, "Listen, your wife's in New York.

that you've created now? No.

The only reason I started Tenth Planet was because before that, I was writing comedy for The Man Show.

for like six months.

But before that, I was a strip club DJ for 10 years.

So for 10 years, I was a strip club DJ.

Then I got a writing job when Joe took over as the host for The Man Show, because originally The Man Show was Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel.

After five years, they took off, but Comedy Central wanted to keep it going with new hosts, so they got Joe Rogan, and Joe Rogan got Doug Stanhope, and then Joe Rogan brought me in as a writer.

But that was a big fiasco because Man Show didn't want to hire me.

So he got me an audience warm-up gig on When Ben Stines Money.

Then that turned into four years of working on The Man Show.

And then after that, he got Jimmy Kimmel Live.

I've worked in an industry that if you work 10 weeks a year, you're doing well.
