The Magic Circle

And I've mentioned it a couple of times on this podcast.

It's that when you go, so in the Magic Circle in London, there are some incredible posters that go back, you know, centuries of all these incredible people doing these amazing things.

You know, there are pictures of devils and demons and all of these just incredible things.

But then you look around the club room and everyone sat there with a deck of cards.

Frank Zazanis is a magician, storyteller, creator and autism advocate who writes as Franklin Williams.

He is a member of the Magic Circle in London.

He teaches at Jeff McBride's Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas and he writes for Vanish Magic magazine and the Mystery School's newsletter.

Frank is an army veteran who spent his service years performing in a wide variety of settings and has also designed and published board games.

Yeah.

And I think they were also just, they were very worried that if I hadn't earned the right to get that deep with people, then I was just going to take the show off a cliff at that point.

Well, that same piece is what got you accepted as a member of the Magic Circle.

So Frank, how did that come about?

So I'm pretty excited about that.

He set up a tour of the Magic Circle when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

And my dad took me to the Magic Circle Christmas show.

Oh, wow.

Um, you know, where the public is allowed.

They were talking about Christmas gigs.

But, uh, they said at the beginning that they were, that people were expecting them to talk about a subject, Kevin Doig, um, being ousted as a nonce, and they dec- they, they can't talk about it because they had a phone call from the Magic Circle, uh, telling them they couldn't talk about it.

And so they respect the Magic Circle's wishes and they're not gonna talk about it.

And then they made the sta- then made the, uh...

Alan asked the question, "I wonder if the Magic Circle had contacted Craig Petty, and if Craig Petty will listen?" And, um, uh, and, and they said, "No, Craig probably won't listen." And the truth of it was I did get a phone call from the Magic Circle.

Uh, I told you, didn't I, Lloyd? I got a phone call from the Magic Circle, and they, it, they didn't ask me not to talk about it, um, because they knew they probably couldn't do that.

But they did, at the...

They made a very good point, which is we don't want Kevin Doig's name associated with the Magic Circle because although he was part of the Magic Circle, he was the chairman of the Young Magicians' Club for 11 years, he was the safeguarding officer at the Magic, uh, uh, at the Young Magicians' Club.
