You'd be hard-pressed to find someone of any age who isn't familiar with The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

This timeless 1961 single from the Brooklyn doo-wop group The Tokens is one of the most fun songs ever to sing along with and its legacy spans from the top of the charts to Disney film soundtracks.

Unfortunately, the song's original writers, Solomon Linda, wasn't properly credited or compensated until more recent years, long after his passing.

It is

beautiful, beautiful.

And, Bacon, I thought that today we were going to be talking about the Tokens, who were a doo-wop band from Brooklyn, who in 1961 had a number one song with The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

We all know this song.

Oh, sweet calendar girl.

I know him as The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I think my dad listened to that.

Really annoying song, The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

That's a horrible song.

And I'd play, like, Lion Sleeps Tonight or Purple People Eater, you know, It just sounded funny.

And I would inject that when I thought that there was a lull in the program.

I'd say, official lull in the program.
