The Lanesborough

So, like, you know, I was a pretty wayward kid.

And, like, my father, when it came to work experience, got me work experience at the hotel he was working in, the Lanesborough Hotel in the 90s, which was, like, the place.

Like, create the direct martini at the Duke's Hotel in the 80s, which is an amazing story.

Went on to create the library bar at the Lanesborough Hotel.

Created the idea of liquid history and wrote a book around liquid history and the Cognac Bible and built collections of vintage spirits out, which a lot of bars are doing now, but no one was doing that before my old man.

So, like, you know, the only time I suppose I started to get to know my father is, like, really when I start- I did work experience.

So I was very lucky that he worked at the Lanesborough Hotel-

... and ran the bar at the Lanesborough in the '90s when I was doing work experience.

And I went and did work experience, um, and that was it.

I was like, "Oh- ... something clicked.
