The Jeff Beck Group

You know, we talked about the late 60s touring with the Yardbirds.

He was with the Jeff Beck group then from after the Yardbirds.

He left the Yardbirds.

He went sort of solo.

And they both are just I got to go down another road and do something differently.

And this group is kind of I'm stuck in this group.

And so the first Jeff Beck Group had a couple of pretty good guys, I would say.

Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart.

So one is...

the Jeff Beck group, which had Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart in it.

They were signed up to play Woodstock, and the night before, Jeff Beck disbanded the Jeff Beck group because he didn't want to play the festival.

Cool.

It's a bold move.

And little by little, I guess I was just becoming more attuned to the guitar.

By the time I went and saw the Jeff Beck Group, so that's the band with Rod Stewart singing and Ronnie Wood playing bass.

That band was just amazing.

I don't know what it was.

So I had that.

And obviously I had their records.

By then he'd had the Yardbirds records and the Beck Bogart and Appesee record and the Jeff Beck group records, Truth and Beccola, which were followed by the Jeff Beck group Mach 2 version.

There were two records there.

Well, I know, you know, like...

yeah.

So those are in the book, um, uh, which just came out actually June 24th, which was his birthday.

You know, I interviewed, uh, Oh God, uh, Donovan, you know, the Jeff Beck group, uh, actually backed Donovan on a song called Barabajackle.

Um, and it's pretty amazing.

Uh, you know, um, Clive Chayman, who was one of the bass players in Just Fans.

And, you know, at a point in time, those heads butt, you know, and, you know, blood starts pouring and Rod says, hey, I've got to move on.

And the same with Ronnie Wood.

The music that he played wasn't, other than those first two records, the Jeff Beck Group records with Rod and Rodney.

Yep.

But I tell you my two favorites of bands that didn't come for very interesting reasons.

So one is the Jeff Beck Group was invited to And we're going to play.

And apparently Jeff Beck really didn't want to.

I don't know exactly why.

I've only seen two videos of him doing it once at the induction to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Page and Vinnie Cagliuto and Tal Wickenfield.

But I haven't really, it hasn't been a normal part of his repertoire because it's really kind of an outlier because it wasn't the Yardbirds and it wasn't yet the Jeff Beck group.

It was somewhere in between uh chronologically and there was talk of you know a super group with all the players that were in it ask

you about that i was gonna ask you yep

So, you know, obviously Entwistle and Moon stayed in the Who, and Page went on to create Led Zeppelin instead.

So it's historically, musically historically, very interesting and an interesting outlier.

It ended up on the Jeff Beck Group album, even though it wasn't the Jeff Beck Group.

This has got to be so important to you in the way of re-educating the listening audience.

Where? Saucer? Yeah.

The Jeff Beck Group.

Oh, fucking hell.

Truth.
