So there's a TV series called My House that was about the ballroom scene that they were part of.

I don't know the exact role that they played there, but I know they were part of it.

And so by any means is elegance is like, you know, transition film from independent A24 studio, the inspection to Paramount Pictures in theory, bigger budget, right? Studio, right? filmmaking um and so i think that is an important you know highlight right within this black queer director's journey um and so shout out to him for achieving that

so yes uh l against breton i recall i think Did Elegance come to the screening we did for NABJLA? We did do a screening.

Why don't we just transition over into the non-spoiler thoughts? That way I can tell you a little bit more about who comes out in the movie, apart from Yaya and Mark Wahlberg, a little bit of the director, and a little summary of By Any Means.

All right, By Any Means is directed by Elegance Bratton, who has made various different films, such as Peer Kids and The Inspection, as well as directed a lot of different episodes for a couple of FX series that come out on TV.

Now, in By Any Means, I mentioned that we have two big names, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Mark Wahlberg, but we also have Nicole Beharie and Giancarlo Esposito.

Now, what the heck goes on in By Any Means? Well, I would be gladly able to tell you in this little non-spoiler summary.

And Mark Wahlberg as a New York mob enforcer who is recruited by the FBI to help employ some extra legal tactics as they try to solve some race-related crimes.

This one comes from Elegance Bratton, a director who a few years ago kind of dropped onto the scene with an A24 film called The Inspection.

And while that wasn't like my most favorite film, I appreciated that it was trying to tackle some big ideas.

I feel, I mean, yes to both, yes and.

When I finished my first movie, The Inspection, I had a lot of runway in front of me all of a sudden, and people brought me all these scripts.

And I chose this script out of the pile because ultimately I wanted to tell a story about, first of all, being a genre piece set during the Civil Rights Movement.

I got to tell a story about, not about what happened to black people during the Civil Rights Movement, but more so about what black people did about it.

But it is like a kind of semi-autobiographical story about a closeted gay guy-
