It changes the original series in a couple important ways for me, like how long Kirk and Spock have been serving as first officer and captain by the time they even get to the menagerie.

Like, you know, the whole point of that is supposed to be that they're still kind of new to working with each other.

um and and i think it would have been better if they had kept to that i think like how much do you really change in one year like i understand that the uhura character is very young and that a year of experience affects a young someone who's like 23 more than it does someone who's 43 but um you know that that kind of stood out to me as strange uh that she's so different a year later that she can't even bluff her way through with the officers.

it's a personal attack against

you because like they'll be weirdly faithful here to like the uniform designs and particularly in this episode chapel and uhura uh have more of like this 1960s uniform style We see that the rank bands on the sleeves have gone from like the, you know, if it's red, a red icon to a full gold that we'll see in this episode.

So they're trying to be faithful to original series in some ways, but then like they'll completely disregard it and flip it up and retcon things other times.
