You know, I actually remember early in my career, I went to a conference and, um, David Elkind was speaking and, you know, uh, uh, he, he wrote The Hurried Child, the very famous psychologist who, who was working at Tufts University, and, um, somebody asked him that question.

They said, "Well, Montessori is, is nice and it's comforting and it's, it's, it's very, um, protective, but, um, don't you think that, um, if you coddle children when they're young, they won't be ready for the real world?" And he said, "Well, you know, if it were true that, um, the best preparation for hardship is hardship, then refugee children would be e- emotionally and psychologically very healthy, 'cause they certainly have endured hardship."
