The Hot Zone

It's pretty cliched actually for a virologist.

I read The Hot Zone when I was in school.

It was shocking to me that a virus could emerge really anywhere in the world at any time and potentially kill a lot of people horribly.

So I decided to pursue emerging viruses.

I remember j- I did ...

Richard Preston, who was a novelist who did The Hot Zone and other books, right, he, like, wrote to request a, um, an original, um, kind of ...

I'm trying to remember what her name was.

The big romance, um, big romance, uh, uh, novelist.

Really?

Yeah, it was this one and then The Hot Zone.

Oh, sure, sure, sure, sure.

Those

were the two that my teacher was like, hey, extra credit, read Congo and then The Hot Zone, like one extra credit book a semester or something.

And so, yeah, those were the two I read that one year in high school and enjoyed them both.

But I'm a big Crichton fan.
