The Horse and His Boy

Now, there are lots of examples of Sehnsucht throughout Lewis's fiction.

Shasta longing for the north in The Horse and His Boy.

Reepicheep longing for Aslan's country in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Puddle glum, we'll talk about puddle glum later in Silver Chair.

Another one, a little bit more obscure one.

um is uh the horse and his boy uh and in the horse and his boy um it doesn't um follow the um the main group of children which is another one i think it's a little bit later in the writing it um and it hasn't been moved made into a a movie um the same way some of the other ones did recently

Austin Hughes' boy is in the fifth book.

The fifth book, yeah, okay.

And you maybe didn't even know that that wall was there.

One of my favorite kids' books is The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis.

Any fans out there? Man, if it's been a while, and I know it's like one of the kind of a classic kids' book, but if it's been a while, I highly recommend you picking it up.

It is far more profound of a read for an adult.

But the idea, the broad idea was still in the back of my mind.

If you're nerdy enough to know who this is, it concerned the character Ram, who's the child of Shasta in The Horse and His Boy, but that's completely irrelevant.

It was basically about a prince who escapes from captivity and so forth.

Anyway, scrap the Narnia book, but the plot structure is still kind of reverberating background in my mind.

But that's where I first met Douglas Gresham and started having my scripts vetted through him.

and then went on to do The Horse and His Boy.

So we're actually here in Kentucky right now at the Ark Encounter touring with The Horse and His Boy.

So it's showing here through January 20th, which is really neat.

It's been touring now for over a year.

It's not a great word to describe what these things are, but they're just beautiful.

And watching them perform is amazing.

Now we have horses and several, actually in The Horse and His Boy, as you know in the book, Aslan appears to them in different forms.

And then there's-

The Horse and His Boy.

That's the third one.

Oh, that takes place...

So there's some stuff going on in those.

Mm-hmm.

But you have to get through The Horse and His Boy, which-

Oh, I remember liking The Horse and His Boy.
