The Heidi Chronicles

Oh, I went to see a play called An American Daughter.

It is by Wendy Wasserstein, who won a Tony for the Heidi Chronicles.

So she's the playwright, does a lot of off-Broadway shows and stuff.

And this was fascinating.

And as I was doing research after the fact, this was considered a major disappointment in Wasserstein's career.

It was right after Sisters Rosenzweig, so she'd already had her Tony and Pulitzer for Heidi Chronicles, and An American Daughter was really kind of the biggest mainstream fumble of Wasserstein's career up until that point.

And she even found it to be a disappointment for herself.

What she wanted to do was kind of focus on in this Clinton era America, which we talked about this a lot.
