EP. 13.5 Intro to The Office
M
2:31Monroe SnowHOST
So, like I was saying, it is a good amount of people who are important to the, like, show.
M
2:40Monroe SnowHOST
Like, instead of, like, what's another show that only really has, like, instead of, like, The Good Place that really only has five really important characters, The Office has at least, it has over, like, seven characters.
M
2:55Monroe SnowHOST
There's also Phyllis and Stanley.
M

Because I watch a lot of Dragon's Den.
S
2:30Simon CaineHOST

S
2:33Simon CaineHOST
And yeah, and obviously since Stephen Bartlett's gone on there, it's kind of become the Stephen Bartlett show.
S
2:37Simon CaineHOST
And a lot of that is because I think a lot of stuff is solved when you have enough leads coming in.
S
2:43Simon CaineHOST
And a lot of that is solved when you understand the marketing piece.
26 MINS LATER
S

Do you think brands are too trend-heavy at this point? Do you think they're too dependent on, like, finding a trend and doing that work?
J
29:11Joel Bjarni MarlinarsonGUEST
Absolutely.
J
29:12Joel Bjarni MarlinarsonGUEST
I think there's also this pressure internally because... at the beginning of TikTok we were operating in a different ecosystem you could post a trend and that would do really well for your brand you'd get loads of comments people would see it quite positively because it was quite rare for a brand to really participate now it just feels like whenever a cultural moment hits be it a Coachella be it a Justin Bieber rolling out youtuber in a live show every brand feels like they have to have an opinion or have a response Whereas the brands that have restraint and only participate when it's genuinely relevant to their offering, just that's when it makes sense.

P
19:29Peter CoulsonHOST
Oh, it's their license had run out and they didn't want to pay for it again.
B
19:31BecHOST
Yeah.
B
19:32BecHOST
