Quiet Riot

So for those of you not already in the hardcore fandom, you might be interested to know that between 2008 and 2009, following in the footsteps of other popular sci-fi franchises, Primeval actually had four original companion novels published for it: Shadow of the Jaguar, The Lost Island, Extinction Event, and Fire and Water, all officially considered canon, for better or worse, and serving as midquel stories set between episodes of the show.

Think some of those direct-to-DVD Disney sequels set during the timeframe of the original movie, like The Fox and the Hound 2, or the godforsaken Beauty and the Beast midquels.

Yeah, spin-off novels, they weren't a new idea then, they aren't a new idea now, but they did at least offer an interesting mechanism, I guess, for doing a lot of things that would've been unrealistic to do in terms of budget, format constraints, episode length constraints.

The books make use of the ability to use overseas locations outside of the UK, having bigger animals, bigger set pieces, and a lot of different environments that they just couldn't do on a TV show.

90s videos, yeah, 90s.

And then they did The Fox and the Hound 2, and it's just extended vignettes of them as kids having fun.

It's just like, no, no, no, no, no.

No.
