The Firebird

This character is part of you that you put in it.

And Paul and Gaetan, they have written this Firebird, written to Stravinsky's Firebird suite.

And so you can hug back to them for the spark of how they want to tell this story.

I mean, it can be told So many different ways, but they just, you know, could do it in their way.

It's got more mystery in it.

It's more, it's a different tone." And then he described to me the opening of Stravinsky's Firebird, uh, as having, you know, there's this dark op- uh, mood to the low basses and strings.

Um, I went home that night and composed a piece of music, and I called, called Nick, and I said, uh, "I think I've got the main title." And you were leaving for Europe.

It should be different.

And this is about the Klingons, and this is a mysterious, opaque, brooding people.

And I said, "Give me the opening bars of Stravinsky's Firebird," and he did a riff on that, and that's how he got the job, and I'm sticking to that story 'cause, 'cause that-
