But Mickey Ward, who they made the movie The Fighter about, he was a guard there with me too.

And his brother, Dick Yeklin, who was played by Christian Bale in the movie The Fighter, he was an inmate there while Mickey and I were guards.

Are you serious? Yeah.

Everyone had relatives there.

And I remember this dude, this Mexican dude, I'll never forget, he was like, hey, bro, you need to eat something.

And he's like, he hands me this nutty bar.

And I had seen all the movies and I was like, nah, dude.

... of anyone in their underwear ever.

Uh, and I passed the first couple rounds, and then the casting director, who I Googled, okay? And she casted The Fighter, hopefully.

Um, she was like, "We need a video of you throwing up in your underwear so that the directors know that you can do it on cue." And I was like, "That's totally normal."

Tommy grew up in Worcester as the son of a firefighter, and that upbringing has heavily influenced both his comedy and his filmmaking.

He has appeared in productions including The Fighter and The Finest Hours, and his work behind the camera includes the award-winning horror film Solace and the new documentary Burning Down the House, which examines the conditions inside aging firehouses and the health risks facing firefighters.

But today we are much less interested in his IMDb page [laughs] than we are in what's going on inside his head.
