The Feelies

And we were in London together a little bit.

And he played with the Feelies for a moment, but that wasn't really his thing.

He's on the first Feelies record, but I think they made him change his name to Andy Fisher, which is... strange but those are strange times you know but yeah i'd known him uh and admired him for a long time and then bill laswell did that uh record with herbie hancock um rocket that was a big hit and anton got hired to play like the machine uh the drum machine parts on a tour with herbie and um he was, you know, essentially those parts are, you know, fast drum machine parts.

So he came back just like a rudiments monster and, you know, an amazing player from, from that Herbie Hancock thing.

And when did he, I, I was on tour with, uh, backing up, uh, Marty Jones and Don Dixon was on guitar, I guess.

The Feelies? That's like the weirdest

lineup ever.

I love it.

Anton Fehr passed away in 2022 at the age of 66 following a prolonged illness.

He was a drummer who was part of the post-punk and alternative rock groups like the Feelies and also the Lounge Lizards before founding the experimental musical collective the Golden Palominos.

Debs Mon passed away in 2013 at the age of 18.

He was unfortunately stabbed during a nightclub altercation.

The Feelies with The High Road, and that comes from The Good Earth, probably my favorite Feelies album.

Uh, Earn Enough For Us by XTC, fantastic, from Skylarking, produced by Todd Rundgren, a fantastic album.

And we started that set with The Call, Oklahoma, from Reconciled.

The case I would make for The Last Waltz for being a great Scorsese film, I think similar to Demme with Stop Making Sense, is that these are two of the great music film directors, uh, directors that know how to use music in a film really effectively, where usually we're talking about needle drops with their films.

But I mean, certainly with, with Demme, for instance, the way that he will interpolate musical performances into films that aren't really musical films, you know, The Feelies being in Something Wild or-

... what's that film where, uh, Meryl Streep plays the singer?

He's used a lot of open chords, so I could make those chords with just three fingers and actually play parts of his songs.

And then I think it was the summer of 81, I was still in college, and I heard the Feelies' first album, Crazy Rhythms.

And my mind was like, oh man, I can take these folky chords and just play them really fast and make this cool music.

And so a college roommate of mine, friend of mine, in the fraternity house, had these Kool-Aid cans and drumsticks.

Yeah

... uh, might be fun just because I, uh, I got to play with The Feelies.

I got to, um-

That's awesome.

Um, but yeah, the F- and The Feelies have been on Bar/None for quite, uh, quite a while, right?
