few months back, we talked about the possibility of a sequel to the holiday movie.

The Family Stone was in development.

Well, it looks like Searchlight has greenlit the movie with the original cast returning.

And it sounds like principle of photography is going to start this fall in New York.

And obviously, Claire Danes is a very versatile actress.

Look at Family Stone.

stuff like that so it's kind of interesting the the journalist ends up going to kansas to meet with this couple and it goes from there and they're like telling him all the holes in the story and and all this stuff so that's a good documentary to watch too um i finished furious on hulu i don't remember that they said that that girl was actually the detective's daughter um is that supposed to be in blight or is it we don't know yet but season two has been confirmed so we'll get a season two that was a really good show and then the family stone i loved the first movie with you know sarah jessica parker they're gonna do a sequel to the 2005 holiday film the story takes place 20 years after the death of the matriarch played by dan keaton They reunite for Christmas, but their father shocks everyone by inviting his new partner to the family.

The returning cast, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, love her, Claire Danes, Dermot Mulroney, Craig Nelson, Luke Wilson.

When Variety.com announced September 12, Searchlight has officially announced The Family Stone 2, a sequel to the 2005 holiday classic from returning writer and director Tom Beziche.

The follow-up is officially titled The Family Stones and will feature the return of many of the original's main cast members.

including Rachel McAdams as Amy Stone and Sarah Jessica Parker as Meredith Morton.

The confirmed cast also includes the following.

The project was first revealed in November 2025 by Batusa.

The announcement came shortly after the death of Diane Keaton, who played the Stone family matriarch Sybil in the first movie.

I've been haunted by the loss of Sybil for months now while I worked on it, and so this was a blow on a tender bruise already, but Jutta said at the time, ''Mentally, I've been spending time in that house where I've been missing her for a while already.'' The Family Stone follows Sarah Jessica Parker as businesswoman Meredith Morton, who goes home for Christmas with her boyfriend, Everett, played by Dermot Moroney, to win over his eccentric extended family during their annual holiday celebration.
