The Evolution of Horror

Well, you know, we always like to do a bit of a horror deep dive in October time with our classic season.

And we were approached by the Evolution of Horror to do a special screening of Carrie, which which made me think a little bit about, you know, the themes of Carrie, but specifically around the performance of Sissy Spacek as well.

And I was very, very keen this year for us to show Possession because we've never shown it in my 10 years working here.

And also, I just think that performance by Isabella Sharni is just so incredible.

And with Sam Neill passing away, I thought as well might be a opportune moment to revisit it as well.

And then having, you know, given those two titles to the Evolution of Horror, they came back to me and they said, how about a season which looks at female performances, but in terms of the hysterical woman? And then they came back to us with the full season and something which we worked together with the Oxford Horror Society as well, who suggested Hereditary.

So it all came together quite nicely based on the evolution of horror presenting this one-off event and also my eagerness to get possession in this month's program, essentially.

It kind of, it all made sense.

The water's lovely.

I'm already there with Komodo Mayo, The Take, The Evolution of Horror, which is the Mike Munster one, The King Cast, Film Stories, Modern Horror on the platform.

So it'd be nice to have the new sequelizers.

We're not doing that.

In this podcast, Kevin and I are usually watching and discussing every horror film in Hammer's back catalog, but this week we're delving into the mail bag to answer listener questions.

So thank you to everyone who took the time to email us.

[suspenseful music] To start off with though, Kev, it's about time we updated our top 10 horror Hammer films that we've covered so far.

Hmm.

Let's delve-

Let's do it, yes

... delve into the sack of emails.

I should have some, uh, papers to rustle or something, but I don't.

And you can find me at all the usual places at underscore daddy disco.

Keep an eye out for Evolution of Horror.

I mean, I'll let you guys know a little bit later, but the upcoming season, if you guys have been listening, is on childhood trauma.

So they're doing like.
