AmandaHOST
We should have.
AmandaHOST
Before we get stuck in to the chapters one by one, Antonia, what is your overall thoughts on this recent instalment to the Empyrean? Honestly, I love that.
AntoniaHOST
Same! I really wanted this, you know, to get a bit of everyone's POVs and you kind of listen to their voices.
AntoniaHOST
I mean, I always say this, listen, because...
AntoniaHOST
Every, every single one of them is different personalities.
AntoniaHOST
And I, I loved as well to see the dragons personalities.
AntoniaHOST
Yeah, and I think it's kinda confirms what we thought about the Empyrean and how like, dragons are split.
AntoniaHOST
um yeah okay so love that love that place rebecca arrows give me give us more give us more
RaileyHOST
We're your hosts, Mishayla, Railey, Poonam, And Peyton.
RaileyHOST
And today we're going to be giving you guys our thoughts and reactions and a few crack theories from the newest Empyrean release, Threshing
MishaylaHOST
Day.
MishaylaHOST
Definitely some crack theories.
10 MINS LATER
PeytonHOST
Stay tuned.
PoonamHOST
Okay, I'm sorry.
PoonamHOST
This is your official spoiler warning for the Empyrean series.
PoonamHOST
From this point forward, we will be discussing all of the major plot points from the 13 Threshing Day stories and how they may connect to our theories for the rest of the series.
Molly BurnettHOST
Uh.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
But I did love the end of that chapter, Imogen's sharing a secret that would destroy Kaori's faith in the Empyrean, but it restores mine.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
I'm like-
Molly BurnettHOST
I literally was like-
25 MINS LATER
Molly BurnettHOST
Yes, yes, yes.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
Hmm.
Molly BurnettHOST
He makes it very clear that his loyalty is not to the monarchy and not even blindly to the Empyrean.
Molly BurnettHOST
He knows about the War Beyond the Wards and is furious that Navarre's leadership has kept its people ignorant, and Molvic bonds him.
SianHOST
...
SianHOST
the husband and wife podcast talking all things Empyrean.
JCHOST
I'm JC.
SianHOST
And I'm Sian.
JCHOST
No, honestly, it's a nice thing that we can see a little bit about these characters, a little bit about the plot.
JCHOST
So I wasn't sure what was the intention of Rebecca here.
JCHOST
I didn't know if it was just like, I don't know, like trying [laughs] to milk a little bit more the Empyrean series, but no, it was actually, you can tell there's something there.
SianHOST
Yeah.
RyanHOST
And also, I don't know how everybody isn't picking up, within this book where we already know his signet...
RyanHOST
Spoilers for all of this Empyrean series, by the way.
RyanHOST
We already know his second signet at this point.
AdrianaHOST
Right.
RyanHOST
So it makes it so obvious, and I love that she was able to write it this way.
RyanHOST
What is the, what is the person who is not mentioned in any part of this book that is mentioned in every other Empyrean book? It's my favorite.
RyanHOST
You should've had it right at the beginning.
AdrianaHOST
Who?
NicoleHOST
And I'm Nicole, younger sister and romantic at heart.
LexiHOST
And today we are back in The Empyrean Series with episode one of Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros.
LexiHOST
Eee.
LexiHOST
And we are covering chapters/POVs one through six.
NicoleHOST
Which means we are diving deep into Brennan, Mira, Xaden, Garrick, Dain, and Bodhi.
LexiHOST
But before we begin, please listen closely to our spoiler warning, because this episode and the next one too includes spoilers for all available books in The Empyrean Series.
LexiHOST
That is Threshing Day, Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm.
NicoleHOST
So if you do not know why we're utterly crashing out over why Garrick developed his signet, then please go finish the book.
ToriHOST
Um, but we will discuss all the theories and stuff after.
EllaHOST
Before we get into the POVs though, I did wanna note, obviously, it, it does say it wasn't transcribed by the scribes, and Rebecca Yarros has said that we can now trust Threshing Day is an accurate depiction of the Empyrean series, which tells us that-
ToriHOST
What do you mean? Say that again
EllaHOST
... well, 'cause there's always-
EllaHOST
Welcome to my life, guys.
ToriHOST
[laughs]
EllaHOST
Um, so it says it wasn't transcribed by the scribes, right? Whereas the Empyrean se- series, so Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, is transcribed by the scribes and Jesena.
ToriHOST
Yeah.
MaddieHOST
And I'm Maddie.
KateHOST
And today, the two of us will be stepping back into Rebecca Yarros' Empyrean series with a Threshing Day debrief, while our third co-host takes a little break from the pod to focus on her newest chapter as a mom.
MaddieHOST
Yay.
KateHOST
Hi, Ange, we miss you.
MaddieHOST
Wish you were here.
KateHOST
In this episode, we're going to cover the biggest takeaways from each of the Threshing Day chapters and individual POVs, including what this novella means for book four and the Empyrean series more generally.
KateHOST
So, if you haven't read the Fourth Wing books, then we highly recommend pausing here and coming back to us when you've caught up, because we'll be discussing the events of Threshing Day in the wider context of the series as a whole.
KateHOST
So it's safe to say there will be spoilers.
EmilyHOST
Because in the book, he's like, when he passes him, he's like hidden in the rocks.
EmilyHOST
And the only other time you've seen that in the Empyrean series is when Andarna was like hidden like a rock.
CassieHOST
True.
CassieHOST
True.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
And...
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
What's really interesting is there's only one visual reference guide to active dragons of the Empyrean.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
It's called the Compendium of Dragonkind.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
And this is such an important quote.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
dragons are down for all the marked ones.
Molly BurnettHOST
I know.
Molly BurnettHOST
Because there's something going on in the Empyrean as well.
Alyssa Tabit SmithHOST
Sure is.
