The Doctor

And when I first saw this back in the day, I'd never read The New Adventure of Human Nature, so I had no idea what to expect.

And I was just blown away, particularly by the second part, where the John Smith version of The Doctor turns back into The Doctor.

And he becomes this sort of avenging angel, taking out the family of blood, who are real rotters, you know? You want them taken out.

I don't need the Doctor to be like this every week, but once in a while, I like to be reminded that the Doctor can be like this and use his ruthlessness that's just there under the surface to really deal with bad people.

I really like that.

I don't need him to have a goatee and ride a motorbike and wear a leather jacket to be an avenging angel, but...

It was just an extraordinary thing.

The Dalek in the junkyard, the special effect of the Dalek shooting people and seeing the sort of the animated skeleton inside them, all of that stuff.

Um, you know, there's, but there's, there's, there's bits that lift it up.

You know, I think the, the [laughs] bit at the TARDIS with, with the Doctor and his segue.

She opens the door.

[laughs] That can't be the one reason you like it.

Even when he's in the backstreets of London, you know, and, and Nick Lasalle having to act to keep up with him.

You know, it...

You just get this sense of absolute vigor from a, as, as the Doctor.

As for the dance he does with that Cyberman at the end when he's-

... that's, that was a, that was a, like a glaring thing.

That wasn't like a, "Right, okay, well, if you had enough time, the Doctor could probably rig up something." You, you can kind of explain it.

With, with Chibnall ones, it reeks of like, "I couldn't be bothered to do any research."

Although, I think what's happening is I think this is where you can see all the issues that Steven Moffat was having in Series 5-

... or that the production team were having in Series 5, because clearly a lot of people were trying to make Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who, and the BBC wanted Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who.

And I don't think Steven Moffat gets to make Steven Moffat Doctor Who until the year after, or...

So the fact that we are the first to do so in a full cast setting is a real honour and interesting to have to try and coordinate which different versions of the Master is coming into contact with the Doctor because it's after the Delgado So the Doctor doesn't recognize the Master to begin with because of everything that the character's gone through since.
