Oh.
Mark O'BrienGUEST
17:53
So that, now I can't remember which album but there are dozens of few albums they have and I just sat there and just listened to it and it's just that mix of that Dillinger escape plan and Meshuggah just literally clashing at each other and just sat there I was I was like oh Dan Dan I need to hear this live you know it's like one of those bands I just I heard that they're playing in Dublin and I only found out this the other day that they were only playing in Dublin there just after Damnation yeah not too long ago I think there's a few bands that are
Daragh KennyGUEST
18:24
playing Damnation they're coming over here just after that's right yeah yeah that was one of them
Barra CarlinHOST
18:29
last year they played Damnation and then like three days later they were playing the Grand Social yeah

15 MINS LATER

Barra CarlinHOST
33:11
Anybody.
Conor MolloyGUEST
33:12
I know what they are, but no, I've never listened to them.
Conor MolloyGUEST
33:15
Did you know they're one of them bands that's like, I know that it's taken me too long to get into Dillinger Escape Plan.
Conor MolloyGUEST
33:21
I love Dillinger Escape Plan, but like Weekend Nacho is going to take me another 10 years.
KyleHOST
64:15
Half of us did.
KyleHOST
64:16
Yes, last night Alex and I and Connor as well went to see the Dillinger Escape Plan.
KyleHOST
64:24
And they have been touring with their original vocalist who originally left the band in like 2000 or something.
KyleHOST
64:32
And they've been touring their first album, Calculating Infinity.
Jay WeinbergGUEST
36:07
That's what I needed to reinforce in myself at a time like that.
Jay WeinbergGUEST
36:15
So to have the opportunity to do that, also certainly with the rest of the guys in the band, specifically my friend Ben Weinman, who I'd known through his work with Dillinger Escape Plan, Coming from New Jersey, Ben has always been a hero of mine.
Jay WeinbergGUEST
36:28
He's kind of an ambassador for the gnarliest of gnarly music to come out of New Jersey.
Jay WeinbergGUEST
36:34
And I remember when Mike had asked me to play with both Infectious Grooves and Suicidal, and I had called Ben.
Paul TerryGUEST
62:28
But yeah, I love the, as we said earlier, the balance between wit and terror in the X-Files is a great balancing act and the dance that the show does exceptionally well but when you can get an episode especially a standalone episode that can do all those things and subvert a trope I'm in and just to say what I love about the finale of it is that however much Scully would be a sceptic on paper for this kind of phenomenon let's just say there's a microwave involved and Scully ain't taking no chances so The only other Easter egg I want to throw out is that there's a fantastic music reference.
Paul TerryGUEST
63:10
It's a fantastic EP collaboration between the Dillinger Escape Plan and Mike Patton called Irony is a Dead Scene.
Paul TerryGUEST
63:17
And I do not know to this day whether it's just a linguistic reference or whether it's an X-Files reference, but there's a song on that EP called Pig Latin.
Paul TerryGUEST
63:25
And the chorus has the word chinga.
Paul TerryGUEST
63:29
uh sung by mike patton all the way through it so i don't know i to this day i've never looked it up with this a reference but it always makes me think of uh reflexively this episode and that amazing ep so uh there you go rock fans if you've not heard irony is a dead scene by dillinger escape plan plus mike patton oh boy get your ears around it I want to think, yeah, it could just be the word, but, uh, but I love the fact that, uh, it's not a word I was familiar with and then to hear it come a few, a few years later, hear it appear out of the face of Mike Patton was kind of a, Oh, cool.
Paul TerryGUEST
64:04
Just a fun coincidence.
Paul TerryGUEST
64:05
But you know what? It was worth a mention as a result of music crossover with film in your life.
SimonHOST
79:08
Oh, actually, I'll go one more.
SimonHOST
79:09
I did buy Dillinger Escape Plan.
SimonHOST
79:12
The only album I bought, the thing I'd buy them, which was Irony Is A Dead Scene, with Mike Patton.
SimonHOST
79:17
This is the reissue from a few years ago.
AlexHOST
179:50
I love you.
AlexHOST
179:50
Anyways, that song we just heard a second ago was Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants by the Dillinger Escape Plan.
speaker_0HOST
7:25
Yeah.
speaker_0HOST
7:26
But, like, as far as, like, I put them up there with Dillinger Escape Plan as far as interesting production in heavy music goes.
speaker_0HOST
7:36
It's easy to just make it to be
speaker_1HOST
7:38
very samey, hey?
Andrew O'NeillHOST
35:44
And so much happened at that point.
Andrew O'NeillHOST
35:46
And then all of this other stuff that comes up, yeah, like Dillinger Escape Plan and Refused, who came, you know, came, I saw them, they went, they split up, then they got huge, which is so strange.
Andrew O'NeillHOST
35:55
But, yes.
Andrew O'NeillHOST
35:57
Yeah.
Marc DavisHOST
3:30
Um, so yeah, I'm very excited.
Marc DavisHOST
3:32
I'm going to see them and then I'm going to get to see Dillinger escape plan next Thursday, uh, which I know, but I'm very excited about.
Marc DavisHOST
3:40
And that I think will be my last show.
Marc DavisHOST
3:43
For a while, because then that's on October 29th or 28th.
speaker_0HOST
60:06
I'll just put it up here.
speaker_0HOST
60:07
It is Calculating Infinity by the Dillinger Escape Plan.
Necrotic NickGUEST
60:12
I'll
speaker_0HOST
60:14
never forget wanting to get into this band largely because of their name.
