In 1984, the DBs released Like This.

This was the band's first release following the departure of co-frontman Chris Stamey, and it is a hugely influential cult classic in the underground college rock sphere.

Hit number 204 on the Billboard Bubbling Under chart, as it was known as, had the song's amplifier and Love is for Lovers.

I've had some creepy experiences with the DVs, actually, because the other one was I worked at Record World.

on Long Island, but I moved to the city and I got transferred to the one near Times Square and one day Will Rigby, the drummer of the DBs, walked in and was rifling through the things and I was like shaking.

I was like, oh my God, Will Rigby's here.

I gotta say something.

And I went up to him and I said, excuse me, Mr. Rigby, I love the DBs.

And he turned to me and he said, yeah, then how come you ain't got any of our records in stock? And he walked out.

And I was like, I

I got kinda outvoted, and we were a democracy, and it got chopped out.

And then Gene Holder was the producer of the record from the DB's, and he took the recordings and got Peter Holsapple and I think Will Rigby both all added some keyboards and some stuff to it, and that version came out as a single, which is, I guess, what you'll hear.

And the- there's like a tambourine or something at the beginning.

Fateman explained that they chose equipment with which they were unfamiliar with to show the girl punk scorn for that particular strain of male expertise associated with electronic music.

So, yeah, they did produce the album with Chris Stamey of the DBs, who helped the band rearrange songs through digital editing.

But many of the album's beats programmed on the Alesis HR-16 drum machine.

Faitman stated that she found the use of the drum machine liberating because it makes you self-sufficient.
