The DAO

I thought this was funny.

Way back in the day, guys, if you wanna Google this, there was what's known as the DAO hack.

So Ethereum got hacked, uh, and, uh, the founding group, uh, wanted to reverse the hack, uh, which they did successfully.

So the non-reversal Ethereum is called Ethereum Classic, but they rolled back the blockchain, undid the mistake.

And there were very few examples of people trying to take decentralized protocol.

I mean, probably the earliest example would be the DAO, right? Ethereum, the DAO hack was a big deal at the time.

Ethereum made a choice to unwind the transaction effectively, you know, fork the chain, blah, blah, blah.

That was an early example.

So what do you do? Do you disclose that you've been hacked? Then have hackers hack all your projects? Or do you not say anything? So there was a big debate in the team.

In the end, the members of the original DAO hack got involved because it was just a year after, so they were still together.

And it was decided that they would hack all the other projects proactively.

The biggest discussion was more like who is going to come out in person because technically you would be a thief.
