Set in Victorian-era New England, the film follows the misadventures of Waldo Trumbull, played by Vincent Price, a down-on-his-luck undertaker who resorts to murder to drum up business.

Tourneur's direction ensures a brisk pace, while Matheson's script allows the actors to indulge in high camp without losing the plot's coherence.
SimonHOST
The whimsical musical score by Les Baxter further enhances the film's light-hearted tone.
