The Carsey-Werner Company

Um, relationships are so important in the business.

You know, working at Carsey-Werner, for example, you know, I did Roseanne.

Uh, Cybill came up, so of course, they wanted me to do Cybill, and, you know.

It, it, and those relationships continue when people move to other positions in other companies.

We want you to run this, and blah, blah, blah.

And I had just signed a big deal with Carsey Werner, which was the company that produced all these shows.

A million other shows.

Cosby, Grace Under Fire, Sybil, Roseanne.

I mean, just every big show from the 80s and 90s was Carsey Werner.

Anyway, so on a Thursday, I came...

I came to the lot.

some people that you ran into that weren't great.

The thing is, actually, we would run into them because in the Carsey-Werner glory days, Right.

Third Rock was this little happy place.

Right.

So I entitled that episode Save the Best for Last because it was my swan song.

And then I decided to go and test my mettle out in, you know, Hollywood at large, because I also knew I had an awareness at the time that that, you know, Carsey Werner, which is the production company for A Different World and Cosby Show and Roseanne and a It was a really kind of a unique experience and it was kind of a cocoon.

It was kind of protective.

Not that there wasn't challenges.

Wow.

And from Tom Warner, Carsey Warner that did all those wonderful shows.

And the Writer's Strike hit.

The first Writer's Strike that brought us reality television.

But think of it this way for television history.

The other ending to the other Carsey-Werner show, Roseanne, was not received very well.

So you can't go too far off the beaten path.

You gotta play it a little bit safe.

And I had had four deals before that, y'all.

And the first one was with Tom Warner, Carsey Warner.

Okay.

And it didn't make it.
