The Buckinghams

And we're going to highlight two of the best-loved Chicago bands of the 1960s.

First up is the Buckinghams.

They did a song.

One of their first releases was called I Call Your Name.

And the Crying Shames did a song, You're Gonna Lose That Girl, which the Beatles had on the Help album, if I'm not mistaken.

Correct? Correct.

Okay, so here's The Buckinghams, I Call Your Name, and The Crying Shames, You're Gonna Lose That Girl.

Gary Puckett had one of the greatest voices.

We saw these shows at the Blossom or Public Hall, the reunion shows, which had Buckinghams and Grassroots.

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Those were fun shows.

Frankie, everybody had a theme, you know, back in the 60s.

The Buckinghams, they wanted to sound like an English name, so they named their group after Buckingham Palace.

Paul Revere and the Raiders, they all dressed up like...

The Raiders, you know.

They even took a jazz instrumental that was associated with Cannonball Adderley and turned it into a vocal pop hit.

And on a personal note, the girl I was dating back in 1967, her favorite group was the Buckinghams.

And lead singer Dennis Stefano, oh my God, she was crazy over him.

Made me so damn jealous.

We would wish, though.

It's not The Buckinghams.
