The Broad

And it's for the people, right? Like it's a, it's an idea of like a, global thousands of years of art history in one place for this huge, big, sprawling, diverse Long Beach to Bakersfield kind of like a version of LA, I think, you know, like we, we contain multitudes.

And so I think LACMA is the museum for that, like something for everyone, right? Like I think the Hammer and Mocha are much more specific and, and, Or like even the Broad, of course, like, you know, and they do great shows.

Like the Robert Therrien show at the Broad like blew my mind.

I was like, this was an incredible show.

But I think LACMA is like more popular, more populous, more broad.

Let's do another thing.

So the Broad approached us about doing a concert.

And I asked Ken, it's like, hey, the Broad wants to do a concert.

We have one song, which we sold to Peacock, right? He's like, I don't even know if we can do that song.

So we said yes.

And, you know, so what do we get? not Renzo Piano's best work.

We get, like, some weird, like, for the Broad and the Resnick pavilions, some kind of, like, hmm, California.

I think it's more casual there.

I'm going to put some red in that.

Right.

I'd rather, you know, we went to the Broad the other day, Lila and I, and it was like 10 bucks.

That's great.

And we went, or no, it was free.

They're thinking like, no, you guys like chill out in the, in the suburbs.

Right.

And so I do feel like it's interesting now that we have like the Disney concert hall and the Broad and the, you know, the LACMA just got that really crazy redo with the concrete everywhere on the inside.

And then you have the motion picture.

Yeah.

But who do you p- who do you pick? So they've kicked that particular can down the road relatively successfully and they've, they've now w- they've now sort of chanced upon this four-man seam attack without Stokes there, that looks more threatening than any England attack since Broad and Anderson, really.

So I would say they're actually slightly better off, uh, than they were.

Although the events of Friday night at Edgbaston where they had no answer to Rasul was slightly concerning, and I'm sure we'll, we'll come onto that at some point.

Correct.

Anyway, the future of test cricket, not in the administrative sense, on the on pi- in the on-pitch sense.

So Stuart Broad working for a broadcaster called Sky Sports, um, you might have heard of them.

Yeah.

But there are these museums that are sort of like, here's the art collection and the art tastes of a very rich person who was like, here, everybody, here's a museum of all the stuff I spent my life collecting.

We have the Broad downtown, which is the newest.

We have the Hammer Museum over in Westwood by UCLA.

A little older, we have the Getty Center and the Getty Villa, which is, you know, J. Paul Getty, notoriously nice guy, who collected a lot of art and has these two big museums.

Oh, my God.

This past weekend, I got to sing at the Broad for the Broad Museum for a Yoko Ono tribute.

And Kathleen Hanna was there.

And Kathleen Hanna is so important to me in so many different ways.

Um, but like, but I think that the, the, the question was like, are you really just trying to reverse engineer a way into saying like all the things that you own are a museum, which famously, like we have some of those already.

There's the Broad.

Yeah, we need, like, a power rankings of, like,

billionaires.

museums here are incredible.

Not only do we have the Science Center, we have the Natural History Museum, we have the Tar Pits, which just closed for renovations, LACMA, the Broad, the Getty, and the Getty Villa.

There's just so many great institutions here.

I lived in Washington, D.C.
