The Breadwinner

An original host and producer of the wildly popular Nateland podcast throughout its six-year run, Brian now co-hosts the Public Figures podcast with fellow comedians Aaron Weber and Dusty Slay.

Brian made his acting debut in the Amazon sitcom Sprung, and most recently appeared in Nate Bargatze, in Nate Bargatze's film, in Nate Bargatze's film, The Breadwinner.

He can also be heard regularly on SiriusXM's Pure Comedy Channel 98.

A native Tennessean, Brian lives in Nashville with his wife, young daughter, and their seven-pound Maltipoo, Maltipoo, Multi, Maltipoo, who a- [laughs] who also provides plenty of material for his comedy, for his comedy.

The great thing about stand-up comedy is whenever you have a awkward or embarrassing moment, pretty quickly you're thinking, "Oh, I think I could do this on stage." So not that I ever wanna be embarrassed or have bad moments, I don't, but the great thing about my job is pretty quickly I can leverage it and benefit from it by talking about it on stage.

So sometimes it's something very mundane that w- can be funny, and then sometimes it's something pretty obvious.

What was it like stepping into acting and then appearing in Nate Bargatze's film, The Breadwinner?

It was so much fun.

137th place is Spa Weekend with $11.7 million.

Ninety-seventh place is The Breadwinner with $20.2 million.

In 96th place is Hadestown the Musical with $20.7 million.

Another one of Dan's that was actually surprisingly did a lot better than anyone expected us to do.

Yeah

... like, big movie where he's the leading man, The Breadwinner.

I do not think it did particularly well in theaters, but it will be streaming on Netflix on September 26th.

Finally, the new John Carney film, Power Ballad, with Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas.

So at number two I have Moana, the live action version.

But at number one, my worst movie of the summer goes to Nate Bargatze in The Breadwinner.

I would say pay that amount of money if you need a movie to fall asleep to.

Like a Steve Martin, he understood the assignment when it came to the Cheaper by the Dozen movies.

Nate Bargatze barely even showed up.

Worst movie of the summer goes to The Breadwinner.

I also have my biggest disappointments, which I don't consider the worst movies, but they are movies that I was excited to go see, and they did not live up to my expectations.

It's a delight.

Appel followed that up with The Breadwinner.

Like Weird, The Breadwinner is a comedy.

But unlike Weird, it isn't really a spoof.

It's actually sincere, a sort of goofy dad comedy.

But a year ago, um, in fact it was a year ago today, 'cause it popped up on my Facebook feed, we went down to, uh, Atlanta to do our podcast, 'cause that's where Nate was shooting his movie, The Breadwinner, and he wanted to do a podcast from the set.
