The Bitter End

I think that's great.

You know, that encourages me because sometimes if I haven't played publicly for a while and when I just had really a great gig at the bitter end.

which is this legendary club in New York.

Everybody, Dylan has played there.

But I also still have a deep appreciation for the smaller venues, especially the historical ones.

I love the Bitter End in New York City.

That's a very famous club, yeah.

Yeah, the Bitter End has a vibe, and they've been very good to me over the years.

The Bitter End taught me a lot about humility.

and being humble.

When I was playing in Savannah many years back when I was in my early 20s, I thought I was really good.

Then I'm not going to have any problem getting gigs in New York.

You know? And, uh, I thought, "Well, let, let me, uh, illustrate my songs, and when people come to a George Usher show, e- even if it's a 40-minute show, they know they're gonna get this kind of entertainment," you know? And, uh, so we were doing this.

We were, she was illustrating my shows, and whether it was a band show or whether it was a solo show, uh, we'd cast the illustrations up on slides on, uh, screens beside us, and we'd play CBGB's, we'd play, uh, The Bitter End.

We'd play the, the smaller places, where- wherever it, it had to be.

A- and, uh, we'd work on the, the, the slides, the slide stuff.

And then we're playing the city.

We're playing New York City October 3rd at the Bitter End.

That's always super fun.

And then I'm playing in South Carolina.

September 20th, that's September 20th, 19th, I'm sorry, September 26th, I'll be at Brickhill House Concerts on Cape Cod, September 27th, house concert just outside of Boston.

October 3rd, we'll be at the Bitter End with the band, and also Elson Torres guesting.

And you're coming to that, right? Aren't you, Martina? Yes, I am.

So if you want to meet Martina and talk to her, she'll be at our show at the Bitter End on October 3rd.

Tell me the first time that you- I

crossed that at the Bitter End in New York.

Somebody told me, You have to go down to the bitter end to see this remarkable woman.

She's just one of the best voices you ever heard in your life and also looks fantastic.

It's altogether amazing.

and john sebastian was the songwriter and lead singer do you believe in do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart and what a day for a daydream hit after hit hot town summer in the city back of my neck feeling dirty and gritty Oh, man.

So I saw him playing with his acoustic guitar at the Bitter End, a small club in Greenwich Village in New York.

And he walked on the stage and he put his arms around the room.

And he just, like you said before, you know, I talk about honest, true, genuine, maybe even a better word, just genuine.

And as the weather became summer, things, as you know, the Village started to just get completely filled up with young people, tourists, et cetera, and it was a hotbed.

The Cafe Wha?, Fin- Finucane Cafe, Gaslight, you know, the T- the Tin Angel, The Bitter End-

Right

... and the Cafe Au Go Go, and they didn't serve alcohol there, so people underage could go in.
