The Bellero Shield

Barney first described and drew wraparound eyes on February 22, 1964.

Twelve days earlier, on February 10, ABC had aired an episode of The Outer Limits called The Bolero Shield, in which an alien with eyes that wrap around the sides of its head speaks a line about all who have eyes having eyes that speak, and Kottmeyer could find no other science fiction film or program of the period with that feature.

He also traced the calming light, the needle and the examination table in Betty's Dreams to the 1953 film Invaders from Mars, and the Durante noses to its mutants.

Jason Colavito later noted that the episodes broadcast the Monday before and the Monday after, February 3rd and February 17th, had featured a surgical table and an abduction by a glowing-eyed alien.
