The Beautiful Letdown

Let's do, I think we've covered, do you have any big, big rocks here? Any big rocks that you want to cover?

Amy, Keith, Russ, DC Talk, Rich Mullins, Imperials, Arthur A., Michael W., Stephen Curtis, Twyla, Cry for the Desert, BBCC Heaven, Switchfoot, The Beautiful Letdown.

I wrote that because I felt obligated to.

Yeah, no, no, no.

But probably the one that spoke to me the most when it came to art, and as I was getting a little older, was Switchfoot.

They'd released, when I was in high school, the album The Beautiful Letdown.

And I'll never forget listening to that.

And it was one of the first times I listened to an album and thought to myself, I wonder if I could write music like that.

It probably had.

It was nothing near The Beautiful Letdown, although that didn't debut well.

That was a slow burn to success.

Right.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, it's killer.

Just among the, this era of Switchfoot from, uh, the Beautiful Letdown through this album, there's just some amazing guitar riffs, and this is one of them for sure.

Yeah, this is really when, when Drew starts to show off his chops.

Whoosh, whoosh.

Of course, we covered Beautiful Letdown.

That was one of the early episodes.

So it had been a few years since we even talked about Switchwood.

The drums are hopping.

And they're kind of doing it.

To me, it harkens back to that great stretch of beautiful letdown through Hello Hurricane.

And I like the stuff after that, too.
