The Basic School

I had a working permit that at the time the government gave to people that could pass an intermediate level of the language.

And I went to work as a bartender for about six months while I was waiting orders to go to the basic school.

And I loved it.

It was a fantastic experience.

Went to the basic school and sucked it up at TBS for six months.

And I've always been interested in reading and interested in academics.

And I was never a 4.0 student, but I always had the...

And I was fortunate that I got what I wanted because I did not want to serve my time on a ship.

And then I left from the Naval Academy after graduation and went down to Quantico, Virginia, where you go through six months of the basic school for officers.

Okay.

So now you have another location you're going off to.

So I understood like the concepts.

But there's just so much more.

Every Marine is a rifleman and every Marine officer is a rifle platoon commander.
