The Art Institute of Houston

She put me in, um...

At the time, the Art Institute of Houston had a weekend intensive for high schoolers to come and learn about the interior design program.

Somehow she found out this existed.

I think this was pre-internet maybe or, or right at the beginning of the internet, because this is the '90s, right? We had just gotten one of those big boxy computers in our house.

So I quickly learned how to navigate production systems and how to turn mics on and on from the stage on an iPad when I didn't have a sound volunteer that day.

And I loved it so much that I started going to school for audio at the Art Institute of Houston for about a year and then left to do vocational ministry and Did worship leading vocationally for about seven years and then took a break from vocational ministry and felt like worship leading that season was done and came to the Austin Stone, applied for the production role here as, hey, I think this is the next step back.

And honestly came in kind of going, I could do this for a couple of years and then take on some like groups or pastoral role.

Ended up falling in love with it, doing full-time dedicated production.
