Andrews of Tar, Armageddon Factor, and of course City of Death died in 2014, which is very sad.

Well, my question here is, recording for Rose takes 2004, takes place at the BBC Model Unit stage, so I'm trying to figure out what effects they were doing for that, for

F
8:01Fraser GregoryGUEST
So there is a few sort of underloved classics here.
F
8:05Fraser GregoryGUEST
But essentially, you know, if you are... wondering why my top 10 doesn't include Unearthly Child, The Web Planet, The Space Museum, The Time Medal, The Power of the Daleks, The Underwater Menace, The Tomb of the Cybermen, Ice Warriors, The Web of Fear, Free from the Deep, The Dominators, The Mind Robber, The Seeds of Doom, The Spearhead from Space, The Ambassadors of Death, Colony in Space, The Demons, The Sea Devils, The Three Doctors, The Green Death, Planet of the Spiders, Genesis of the Daleks, The Pyramids of Mars, The Deadly Assassin, The Face of Evil, The Horror Fraggle Rock, Underworld, Invasion of Time, Armageddon Factor, Creature from the Pit, It's because you can find it somewhere else.

Oh, but can I just, please? The Happiness Patrol is your number one favourite Doctor Who story of all time, isn't it? Even though you're caging yourself to not be able to say that.
F
9:05Fraser GregoryGUEST
But, you know, we've spent three hours per episode talking about that.
Q&A Madness with Joe & Mark
J
38:26Joe FordHOST
Um, I know one story you did change your opinion on, 'cause I, I heard you talk about it disparagingly in the past.
J
38:31Joe FordHOST
And yet everybody go and listen to the Armageddon Factor Two Watch Who episode-
M
38:36Mark DonaldsonGUEST
Oh, wow
J
38:36Joe FordHOST
... where Mark and Sarah Choo extolling the virtues of this much derided classic.

I know a girl called Faria.
M

J

Um, oh, and he also asks, "What's your wish lists for future Doctor Who books?" I would like, um, a th- brand-new novelizations of The Rebus Operation and The Armageddon Factor to go in a massive 800-page book, which is an entire Target novelization of The Key to Time.
J
39:34Joe FordHOST
I can't imagine it happening, but that's what I'd like.
DWLit: Live at Long Island Doctor Who 2026 (with Rob Shearman)
R
43:30Rob ShearmanGUEST
I mean, and I can understand why people will be suspicious of it.
R
43:33Rob ShearmanGUEST
But what... what happened i'll tell you very very quickly how i became aware of it i was i bumped into james goss who was out working when i was and he told me he was writing the armageddon factor and i said to him why and he said well it's interesting because i found i've gone back through and i'm now novelizing the original scripts by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, which are very, very little to do with what was broadcast.
R
44:02Rob ShearmanGUEST
So this is a very different sort of story.
R
44:04Rob ShearmanGUEST
It hasn't got Drax in it, but it's a very, very different, darker, nuclear-themed thing.
R
46:05Rob ShearmanGUEST
I'd like to bring in Androzani, I'd like to bring in Mysterious Planet, all of which came in part from what Krull was doing.
R
46:12Rob ShearmanGUEST
I'd like to try and write a funnier book and using elements of Holmes's work across it as a means of saying this is an alternate take on Kroll, which in no way is canonical, but is also fitting with the idea of a book where all the different takes are also not what we saw on screen.
R
46:34Rob ShearmanGUEST
So, you know, Armageddon Factor is not the Armageddon Factor we saw, but it's a different form of it.
R
46:40Rob ShearmanGUEST
So I felt very arrogant.

Barry Jackson, previously Escarus in The Romans, and later the, uh, bloomin' cockney Drax in The Armageddon Factor.
M

Yes.
M

LI Who Field Report - Part Two
J

Power of Curl, which Rob Shearman is lending his considerable talents to.
J
13:08JasonHOST
And then James Goss is novelizing the original scripts for Armageddon Factor, which were changed dramatically before getting to television.
J
13:16JasonHOST
Amazing.
J
13:17JasonHOST
So you'll be seeing the end of the Key to Time season as it was originally envisioned by all parties involved, including Bob Baker and Dave Martin.
