Uh, so, you know, if, if you wanna see films...

A- and that's the other thing that's, that's fascinating about those movies is, at least for a couple of those pictures, they're paired with The Andrews Sisters.

So every so often in this Abbott and Costello movie, they'll stop for a musical number, and it's, like, some big Andrews Sisters song-

So they'll sing the White Cliffs of Dover, right? Absolutely.

And Lost by the Andrews Sisters.

... like, and- Um, you know, I had, I had this jazz vocal quartet with, um, it was like me and three Berkeley, uh, jazz voice faculty, and we all played an instrument, we all sang, and we're doing, like, these tight harmony, um, you know, being in the Andrews Sisters style, uh, you know, things.

And it was really great for my ears because I was really not good at it, and I love doing things that I'm not good at.

And one of the things that the, the lead guy, Dave, said was, "You know, it's really important for jazz to pick a couple recordings the first time you hear something.

They're really, you know, it's, it's impossible not to, uh, improve your mood by listening to a Boswell sisters record.

They're also without doubt, um, main influence on the Andrews sisters who became much more famous in the 40s late 30s and 40s and the Andrews sisters would be the first people to say that they based their sound on the Boswells maybe one of the reasons they're not so well known now is because their careers were cut short because two of the three sisters got married and at that point in history that was it, you stopped singing you stopped performing, you were now a wife And Connie Boswell went solo.

She was the only one who carried on with her career.

But yeah, absolutely.

Um, anyway, um, I, I do a lot of, you know, of course, probably we all do YouTube searches for songs that we hear about and wanna check out, and, um, I'd been talking to Will, uh, at some point about how many Al Jolson songs can pertain to, uh, th- that have sort of a weird connection to Brian a- and Audrey.

Um, and so I, I had been looking up some Al Jolson things, and then i- in your feed, in my feed one day, um, I get, uh, The Andrews Sisters pops up, uh, and it's their version of Shortnin' Bread.

Put on de skillet, put on de lid.
