Jake James LugoGUEST

And they don't want to be honest with the people when there's stuff right in front of us.
Jake James LugoGUEST
55:04
The Acolyte was not a good show, yet you still had people claiming that it was one of the best things of Star Wars out there, even though the industry universally was like, yeah, this is a bad show.
Jake James LugoGUEST
55:13
But the only reason why they said that is because either one, they got to go to Lucasfilm to go see this thing and meet Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy or whoever else.
Jake James LugoGUEST
55:22
Or they got access to other things to go to Skywalker Ranch, or they got access to go to Premiere, or whatever else.
Jake James LugoGUEST
55:41
i was one of you remember this i was one of the few people that said that like look i don't think andor is that good i think andor is not a great thing for star wars even though it's a well put together show but it's not a it's not a show that wants to be star wars i said that and i got ridiculed for it because i dared to be honest with the audience and be up front with them about something based on my years of experience of covering star wars and being a fan of it for so long since i was a child And I think the problem is, though, is that there's a real lack of backbone for some people in order to be honest, but also not afraid to be against the grain when it calls for it.
Jake James LugoGUEST
56:14
Because let's be real.
Jake James LugoGUEST
56:16
Like I said, the Acolyte is a perfect example of this where it was not a good show.
Jake James LugoGUEST
56:19
And there was a lot of people trying to kind of gaslight and trick people into thinking it was a good show.
Gary BuechlerHOST
61:22
And the execution is horrible.
Gary BuechlerHOST
61:25
Somebody was comparing it to the Acolyte.
Gary BuechlerHOST
61:30
And he's not wrong.
Gary BuechlerHOST
61:31
It's just not as funny.

Gary BuechlerHOST
152:37
Well, there's intention and then there's execution.
Gary BuechlerHOST
152:40
And the execution is horrible.
Gary BuechlerHOST
152:43
Somebody was comparing it to the Acolyte.
Gary BuechlerHOST
152:47
And he's not wrong.
Jason SwankHOST
12:09
Yeah.
Jimmy MacHOST
12:09
Yeah.Well, I have to give a shout-out to my good buddy East Side Dave McDonald, who has attempted to give The Acolyte a re-watch.
Jason SwankHOST
12:18
Oh, God.
Jimmy MacHOST
12:18
I don't think it-
Jason SwankHOST
12:34
Uh, you could-
Jimmy MacHOST
12:35
... didn't quite work out
Jason SwankHOST
12:35
... you could sell tickets to East Side Dave watching The Acolyte.
Jimmy MacHOST
12:40
I propose we do a re-watch with him.
Ken NapzokHOST
61:42
oh
Ehan ShahAUDIENCE
61:43
boy yeah uh is master soul in the acolyte uh you know me any chance to raise the acolyte but basically um but not only him but his cohorts or four of them that were on brenda it's it having watched the series many times and sort of like digested the guide and stuff like that there's there's something about brenda uh you know because basically um Sol makes a really bad decision and really kind of gives into this desire to be a master and have a Padawan.
Ehan ShahAUDIENCE
62:19
And then, you know, and then all the other three, like Kalnaka and Torben and Indara, you know, they're left with a curse

afterwards.
StephGUEST

The Star Wars show that was out.
StephGUEST
52:49
The Acolyte.
Brett DasovicHOST
52:49
The Acolyte.
StephGUEST
52:50
If I go back and I think about The Acolyte, people were saying that that was an incredibly popular show as well because there was so much online discourse.
Brett DasovicHOST
52:55
Yeah, they were using online metrics.
StephGUEST
52:57
But what was the online discourse, though? It was all negative.
StephGUEST
53:00
It was all making fun of, of The Acolyte.
StephGUEST
53:03
Even Elon Musk made fun of The Acolyte because it was such a ridiculous show.
ClayHOST
57:11
Yeah, I got this one wrong too.
ClayHOST
57:13
Which Federation freighter was Varosh, Varosha, sorry, Anissa working on when she was arrested by the Jedi in 132 BBY? Of course, this is the Acolyte question.
ClayHOST
57:28
Yes,
KatieHOST
57:29
and it's the first episode.
ClayHOST
58:53
Yeah, I got this one.
ClayHOST

Which Federation freighter was Varosh, Varosha, sorry, Anissa working on when she was arrested by the Jedi in 132 BBY? Of course, this is the Acolyte.

TreyHOST
43:16
So even though I don't put together a Twin Suns deck that has to be thematically accurate, I do appreciate when they do a good job or seeing the new art and the new characters or the stuff for the characters that I like.
TreyHOST
43:30
I have a visceral hatred of Acolyte.
TreyHOST
43:33
There are a few things that I hate as much as Acolyte.
TreyHOST
43:37
I get especially vindictive with my hate when my true hatred of things, especially like movies and TV shows, comes out when I want something to be really good or I think it's an excellent idea.
TreyHOST
43:48
In Glorious Bastards, the movie is like this for me too.
WesHOST
43:50
Yeah.
TreyHOST
43:52
Because when something has such promise and whoever creates it does not create the thing that the promise was made for, the Acolyte was such a great idea.
TreyHOST
44:03
Well,
Henry San MiguelHOST
36:12
We're still wondering what happened to Broomkid from Last Jedi.
ShanclenGUEST
36:18
Yeah, and it's like we're still in the same, like, what, 30, 40 years? in Star Wars like that whole franchise like from the beginning episode 1 to 9 it's like 60 years right or something like that that's pretty good yeah and then like we got the Acolyte but you know I feel like that's like the only thing that's outside of the timeline because you have Mando you have Rebels you have all those are still in the same era of timeline of Star Wars
Henry San MiguelHOST
36:52
See, I'll say this.
Henry San MiguelHOST
36:53
See what you guys think.
Trent TuckerGUEST
39:25
He's the architect of, uh, uh, Rebels.
Trent TuckerGUEST
39:28
Um, and he was, you know, the, the C, the C creative, uh, the creative, head of creative, whatever, for a little while.
Trent TuckerGUEST
39:36
But at the same time, though, he signed off on the Acolyte.
Trent TuckerGUEST
39:39
He signed off on Obi-Wan.
