I got to see Cryer, um, uh, in, uh, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

I think we mentioned this last time we spoke.

Yeah.

Michael R. Jackson's show at Joe's Pub, this one-woman show by Lindsey Kraft at Soho Playhouse called We've Been Here Before.

And over the weekend, I saw the 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee off-Broadway production, which was great.

So yeah, just seeing a lot of great, I feel like I saw a lot of great musical theater this month.

This is a famous show.

It was actually here, I think, maybe 15 to 20 years ago.

Magda Zabanski, Marina Pryor, others were in it.

Some are on stage, some are in the orchestra pit playing various instruments.

It is just alive.

We're talking about community theatre with Luke Davis, who's part of this production, the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

And all summer long, we've talked about the Cape Playhouse.

And Claiborne just so happens, we just had Julia Murney here the other day, just so happens that he's directing a production of the Putnam Spelling Bee.

And he's here to tell us all about it.

And so it's, it sort of becomes this place where you're like, you're all on vacation together side by side and enjoying, enjoying the specialness of the place simultaneously is really fun.

Well, we're all going to, if you're up in the Cape this weekend, go see the last shows of the season for this production and of the main, I know they have some concert and special events also that are coming up.

With the Emmys recently and us constantly feeling like we're in a state of awards season, as Catherine O'Hara's character on Schitt's Creek said is her favorite season, it's almost impossible to not see Julian's character of Paloma Diamond appear as a commentator and just bringing endless humor.

Of course, we talk all about Paloma, but the reason that Julian is here on the podcast this week is to talk about his role in the 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Well, you know, Bernie, I'm curious because, you know, you mentioned that you've been on stage twice because you were a guest on to do spelling on the Putnam Spelling Bee musical.

You were a judge during Jellicle Ball, but it's so different when you're in these sort of communal spaces with other creative people.

And I assume that that's a new thing.

I'm pretty excited about it ... what is it, a spelling bee? Okay, there's a show off-Broadway called the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah spelling bee.

Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Yeah.

And they do this thing where they have, like, a guest speller.
