That's Entertainment!

And at the movies, Americans were heading back to Hollywood's golden age.

The number one movie at the box office was That's Entertainment, which was MGM's celebration of 50 years of movie musicals featuring stars like Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Judy Garland.

And here's something interesting.

That's Entertainment had already been number one earlier that summer, and it returned to top the spot again in September.

And if you were a person in 1974 settling down for your evening, you were probably watching Johnny Carson at that time.

And guests would have included, I think on September 18th, it was Dennis Weaver, Harvey Korman, one of my favorite comedians.

I have seen a number of them.

I also watched the That's Entertainment kind of, I guess, documentary.

I don't even know if it's a documentary hosted by Gene Kelly where they go through the MGM musicals and they just pick musical elements from all of them.

They made, I think, three of them over time.
