Now, Hud and actually Salih also as well, they belong to tribes, Aad and Thamud, that are called the extinct Arabs.

So they divide the Arabs into this type of Arabs, those types of Arabs, and there's Al-Arab Al-Ba'ida, the Arabs that gone extinct.

There are a couple of other tribes that have gone extinct.

Some which the Arabs knew very well that they gone extinct are Aad and Thamud.

So Hud was sent to Aad.

And Aad is called in the Quran Iram.

And We adorned the nearest heaven, in the lowest heaven, with lamps, stars to be an adornment as well as a guard from the devils, by using them as missiles against the devils, such as the decree of Him who is Almighty, the All-Knower.

But if they turn away, then say, "Oh, Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam, I have warned you of a sa'iqah, a destructive, awful cry, torment, thunder, thunderbolt like the sa'iqah which overtook 'Ad and Thamud."

And so Utbah, he placed his hand over the mouth of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and implored him by the bond of kinship to stop.

Kadhabat qabalahum qawmu nuhi wa ashaburrasi wa thamud.

Before these people who deny you, O Messenger, other nations also rejected their prophets.

The people of Nuh rejected him, as did the people of the well and the people of Thamud.

Wa adu wa fir'aun wa ikhwanu nutu.

The people of Ad, Fir'aun, and the people of Lut also rejected their messengers.

And the scholars differed over this.

Some of them said it is Hudh, because it seems that Allah knows best that he was the next prophet to follow on from Nuh as Allah mentions in Surah Hud that he said to his people don't you remember what Allah did to Nuh so it seems that he came after him and Allah knows best and some of the scholars said that it's the prophet Salih and the people therefore the nation of Thamud and Allah knows best so either way Allah speaks about another nation that came after the time of Nuh Allah says in verse 32 فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ And we sent one of their owners a messenger and we said to them, Worship Allah for He is your only God.

Will you not then heed Him? And so this messenger and this prophet also came with the same call as Nuh before him.

And that is that he came to his people and he said to them, worship Allah alone.

And Allah responds and he says, as Allah mentions in verse 40, قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَيُصْبِحُ النَّادِنِينَ And so Allah responded, soon they will be filled with regret.

Allah said that they will see the punishment of Allah come upon them soon.

And whether that's the people of Aad or the people of Thamud or any other nation, Allah destroyed them as He mentions elsewhere in the Quran.

And Allah then concludes this passage by saying in verse 41, The blast just struck them and we swept them away like scum, away with the evil doers.

He reminded the Arabs that the injustice and idol worship around them were not new.

Earlier nations, such as the tribes of Ad and Thamud, had also rejected their prophets, mocked warnings and clung to their corrupt habits until punishment overtook them.

He pointed to the signs of Allah in the world around them.

The brightness of noon, the deep stillness of night, the rising of the sun, the spreading of rain clouds, and the greening of dead earth after rainfall.

Wa yukadhibuka faqad yukadhibat rusulu min qablik.

O Muhammad, if they disbelieve in you, then there was those that disbelieved before from the people of Aad and Thamud and Lut.

Na'am.

Wa ila Allahi turja'ul.
