Terrell

Today on Mission Texas, we are so glad to be joined by Chelsea Hockett, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Texas's 5th District.

Chelsea is a Terrell-based, mother of two, community organizer, and member of a working-class union family.

Before entering politics, she worked in restaurants and in the airline industry.

Experiences, she says, shaped her focus on affordability, workers' rights, healthcare, and public education.

This is the Texas one? Yeah, he was a young American trucker.

He fell asleep, and I think it was in Terrell, Texas.

He killed five people, and he said he fell asleep.

He was honest.

So they looked for alternatives, and it was found thousands of miles away under the wide-open Texas skies.

The first and largest of the American British flying training schools was established in Terrell, Texas.

And between 1941 and 1945, more than 2,000 Royal Air Force and US Army Air Force cadets earned their wings in North Texas.

The British cadets also formed some pretty tight friendships with the people of Terrell creating a bond that was reflected in the school's motto, the seas divide, but the skies unite.

And tonight we're going to explore some of that history, but we're also going to focus in on a very special Stearman that has returned to the museum.

Old number 42 is a Boeing Stearman built for the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, but made its way to Terrell, Texas, and became one of the training aircraft right there at the Flying Training School.

And we'll talk more about how that came back home when we talk with Dennis and Carl, who are here from the museum.

And gentlemen, we are glad that you are here and a part of our show for tonight.

They were on the same circuit, same concert circuits as, as the Kingsman were.

And so we'd always work Terrell, Texas.

I remember as an example, Kingsman and the Isaacs.

So my grandmother's house was in Terrell, Texas.

And if you look up the Terrell Wikipedia, the two notable people, I was born in Terrell.

It's me and Jamie Foxx.

Oh my god.

It's

amazing.

But so in Terrell, Texas, my grandmother had a house and my whole family owned all this land on this long hill.

Oh, I know.

Okay, so you grew up in Terrell-

Texas.

Terrell, Terrell.

Terrell.

I always do that with Terrell Owens too.

No, you're not going to do that, right? But what I am saying is in every conversation, you're looking for an opportunity to put the gospel, to sow the gospel, to sow the seed of the gospel.

Listen, I led a man to Christ outside the McDonald's in Terrell, Texas one time.

And he came up and asked me something.

We started having a conversation.

I ended up leading him to Christ at McDonald's, Terrell, Texas.

Here's what I walked away understanding.

I led him to Christ, but that wasn't the first person that talked to him about Jesus.
