Had a brief conversation with him last night when I got in, and But even during the training camp, we talked a little smack back and forth when they came to visit Tennessee.

He didn't have much experience with Johnson.
EverlitNARRATOR
4:11
Simmons old defensive line coach Terrell Williams spent time with Johnson in Detroit, but Simmons said he wanted to observe and learn how Johnson liked to run his team so that he could step in and provide the right type of leadership Johnson is looking for.
EverlitNARRATOR

It's whatever I can do, Simmons said.
EverlitNARRATOR
4:29
Of course, whatever I can do.
Taylor KylesGUEST
16:22
And he's producing, as you said, a top five scoring defense.
Taylor KylesGUEST
16:25
And since he took over last year for Terrell Williams, has been pretty fantastic.
Taylor KylesGUEST
16:29
And him against Ben Johnson, that's just a matchup I'm very much looking forward to.
EJ SnyderHOST
16:33
Yeah, I think we're going to have fireworks well into the second half and fireworks doesn't necessarily mean scoring.
Kirk HerbstreitGUEST
23:02
They are a nasty, lunch pail, just eff it kind of team.
Kirk HerbstreitGUEST
23:07
And I know Drake May gets a lot of the attention, but what Zach Kerr has done as a defense coordinator, remember that story last year, Terrell Williams had some health issues in camp.
Kirk HerbstreitGUEST
23:15
and couldn't go, and Zach Kerr, he was like an analyst just four years ago, and now he's the defensive coordinator on a Mike Vrabel team, and led them, not led them, but was a big part of getting them to the Super Bowl, and I talked with him this morning, just going through some of his personnel, and man, it's just so refreshing to see guys They don't have a lot of superstars, but they play as a unit.
Kirk HerbstreitGUEST
23:41
And they've got, like I said, an attitude about them.
Clay HarborHOST
20:32
Your offensive coordinator is Josh McDaniels, your play caller.
Clay HarborHOST
20:35
Terrell Williams is actually the defensive coordinator with New England operating under Mike Vrabel's defensive structure.
Clay HarborHOST
20:42
But Terrell Williams is the guy that calls the plays.
Clay HarborHOST
20:46
So that's something that's interesting and that's why I think Ben is so special because he can set a culture and he can come up with a game plan and he can call the plays.
Clay HarborHOST
20:56
He's not just sitting there making sure everything's okay.
Chris GasperGUEST
38:55
In terms of the way the Patriots look at the Jets, I think it's skewed a little bit by a couple of things.
Chris GasperGUEST
39:00
One, you know, the assistant head coach for the Patriots is Terrell Williams, who came from Detroit, knows Aaron Glenn well, lot of respect for Aaron Glenn, and the other, Brian Duker, the other coaches he worked-
Gary MyersHOST

Mm-hmm
Chris GasperGUEST

... with i- in Detroit.
Brian HinesHOST
41:25
So credit to all those guys.
Brian HinesHOST
41:26
Credit to Mike Smith, Mike Vrabel, Terrell Williams, all those guys working with that edge group.
Brian HinesHOST
41:31
That has been an absolute pleasant surprise, uh, to start the year.
Brian HinesHOST
41:34
A- and again, that four-man rush yesterday, it was, I think the pressure rate was, like, 15% over their season average with just four.
Brian HinesHOST
40:20
So there's only the three of them, and all three are playing at a really good level, so credit to all those guys.
Brian HinesHOST
40:26
Credit to Mike Smith, Mike Vrabel, Terrell Williams, all those guys working with that edge group.
Brian HinesHOST

Mike GiardiGUEST

Liam Cohen is in your bag.
Mike GiardiGUEST
53:20
Liam Cohen is one of the first people that really, uh, since this new regime came over with Vrabel and Terrell Williams as the DC, and then obviously Zach taking over, that, um, did stuff like that to them, that made them look like that.
Mike GiardiGUEST
53:34
[laughs] I don't- I don't know that that's happened very often, so, uh, good bounce back, smart guy.
Mike GiardiGUEST
53:40
I think that the thing that stands out to me about this is the, the level of communication and trust between the players and the coaches to sort of, as you said, this is a sharp, uh, pivot from what they've been doing, and to have the confidence that they could do it, and then to go watch them execute it well, with the exception of a few breakdowns, and hey, it's, it's Josh Allen, he's gonna make some plays.
